It's Wednesday and we walk

You may be surprised to hear that 15 of our long walkers turned out for 9 mile walk today. There was occasional sun, occasional showers and lots and lots of mud! We had a great day out in the Dipton Mill area just south of Hexham. The landlord of the Dipton Mill Inn opened especially for us this afternoon.

It was a relief to be out and enjoying the countryside and the fresh air. Here is a rather nostalgic treatment of the walkers as they walk through the beech woods. When you are able to be out like this you feel that all is right with the world (until you slip over in the mud that is!).

Rivers are going down in some places but still rising in others. We've seen dramatic pictures on TV of a block of flats where the foundations are totally washed away and a deep ravine has developed alongside.
