Life Mounds

Jupiter Artland has featured on blip before but this was our first visit. Created by Charles Jencks, the Life Mounds are described in the guide as Terraced earthworks with embedded paths, summit sculptures and inscriptions. Mounds of soil and turf; sculptures comprising iron, red sandstone, concrete and Liesegang rock. 'A landform celebration of the cell as the basis of life'. In reality these are high mounds with spiral terraces, catching the light at different angles from each other, reflected in water features between.

Although quiet, it was difficult to obtain a photo without at least one other person, but these three appear to be part of the installation. (The fourth is a member of staff who was strimming and leaf-blowing the grass on the earth mounds, a seemingly endless task). We did not have time to cover the entire grounds
