Lowther Castle

In all my years of holidaying at Ullswater, I'd not been to Lowther Castle before.

It's sad to see the building as a shell, but I believe the view is that the partial demolition last century, prevented the building from collapsing.

As it is, it's a great place to wander and admire the efforts of the team in trying to restore the gardens to something akin to their former glories.
