Friend from Denmark

R jnr and his friends are very excited today! Their friend from Denmark arrived very late last night for a 10 day visit! His parents are staying here in Ndola, working for an Aid Organisation to support Aids patients and -orphans!

Fortunately he travelled KLM and Kenya Air, not like lots of our friends, who are stranded all over SA and Zambia, because of the problems with Zambian Air.

Seen in this picture are from left, South Africa, Denmark, South Africa, Zimbabwe and Zimbabwe, all ready to start playing World of Warcraft on their laptops, in R jnr's room!

Thank you all for the support as well as the humour in your comments on my yesterday's blip! It is highly appreciated!

Further on yesterday's catastrophe.

We got news this morning, of friends stranded in SA. Unaware of the Zambian Air crisis, they flew in to Johannesburg from all over SA to catch the Zambian Air flight back yesterday, in order to be here today for work and school. On arrival in Johannesburg, they were informed that there are no flights to Zambia. Some of them took return flights to Durban and Cape Town and various other destinations, after a night in a Hotel close to O R Tambo Airport, at own cost, to wait for available flights with SA Airlink later this week!

Another friend of ours travelled to Lusaka, not really a pleasant trip, the roads are not too good and it is about 330km, takes no less than 4 hours to travel, to take her children and grandchildren to Lusaka Airport, to fly back to SA, only to hear that Zambian Air is not operational anymore, they were fortunate enough to get tickets on SA Airlink, but at a price, of course!

We got new tickets on SA Airlink to fly out a week later than planned, at 150% of the price we paid for the lost tickets, which means we paid, all in all (the loss of our money taken into account), more for this 2000km trip to South Africa than for our trip to Sweden in August! We were able to move all our appointments to later dates as well! Thank goodness for that!
