Stone Age Picnic

I left work a little past noon today as I had very exciting plans for the afternoon. I had a blip meet with Heidi in Sagnlandet Lejre (Land Of Legends). 

Sagnlandet Lejre or as it is also called Centre for Historical-Archaelogical Research and Communication was etablished in 1964 as an archaeological research station in a unique moraine landscape with woodland, lakes, bogs and fields near Roskilde. It is a center, where professionals from within cultural-historical disciplines can do their research, but it is also an open air museum, where people  can experience our ancestors’ daily life from the ice age and up till the viking age. It is a great place to visit.

I arrived a little earlier than Heidi, so I had time to take the boys out for a wee, sort tickets etc. and when Heidi arrived, our adventures could begin.

We were time travelling from the Ice Age and up to 1800 in about 4 hours. We even had a picnic in a stone age cottage. How amazing is that? 

It was wonderful to spend time with Heidi again, but so sad that Dolly was not with her this time. Especially for Gollum, who fell in love with Dolly last year, when they came to Sorø to see us. Gollum was so in love that he kept being naughty just to show off for his new girl friend. These memories made us smile.

This year Gollum was much more well behaved and Hero was being the naughty one. He rolled in sheep poo and was covered in it from top to toe. Luckily there was a water hose, so I could rinse it off before he had to go back in the car. 

Biscuit was being quite good and very excited about everything. He loves to go on adventures. 

I have uploaded lots of extra pictures today, just to show you what a great day we had. It was lovely.

The weather behaved too. It was a bit rainy, when we arrived, but it soon got dry and only my shoes were wet, when we left. 

I also got to see Heidi's camper van. It is great. I can imagine how comfy it must be to travel in.
