The Fisherman, Home from the Sea
Cormorant, resting on the beach for the winter after a long hard season.
In Guernsey you will find many bays where, by tradition, amateur fishermen rest their boats above the high water line, for the winter.
This allows for important maintenance to be carried out over the winter months.
Cormorant is ashore at Rousse which is tucked into a sheltered bay on Guernsey's NW coast.
I imagine she will probably sit there until about April/May.
The larger, professional fishing boats are moored at the Fish Quay in St Peter Port Harbour on the east coast. They tend to be out in all weathers to try to satisfy our insatiable appetite for fresh fish and shellfish.
It is a pretty hard life I think!
