Basking In The Sun

After our friend Christine set off for home this morning, we set off on a bike ride to Ham Wall Nature Reserve in perfect weather for cycling, sunny with a gentle breeze to ward off the worst of the heat.

It was fairly quiet on the bird front, though I wasn't quick enough to catch the heron that flew out of the reeds just ahead of us. This butterfly, however, was enjoying basking in the sun and was happy to pose.

This afternoon, having returned the house to normal after all the weekend visitors, we were happy to sit in the garden and bask in the sun as well.
