6 of 6: Boundary Waters

Exhilarating days and exhilarating nights.
We did finish early though, and called our outfitters to come and get us. It started raining and rained for over 24 hours. While we managed to pack up our sleeping bags without getting them wet, and while we wore all kinds of rain gear, we spent all day paddling in the rain, soaking wet! I could describe the misery, but I'd be telling a lie: it was all fun. Challenging to portage over slippery rocks while pretty tired, but fun. The kids kept voting to keep going until we reached the exit point hoping to get rescued, and that did happen, but we also couldn't find an available campsite. So we ended early, but the dry beds, the showers, and the flush toilets at the outfitter's lodge were mighty fine.
