Spent day at Manor farm with Zoe, Frankie and Phoenix. Had a lovely day. The kids got to 'hold' an owl each. This was Toby's owl who closed his eyes if you scratched a particular spot on his head. Amazing birds. They are all rescued.

Took Nell to vets to have her staples out. All ok- they said her body had started to reject the staples which has caused a bit of swelling but now they're gone that should go down quickly. As we were waiting a family came out in tears without their pet. Haven't stopped thinking about them all evening. I know it's a reality that anyone with a pet has to face. It's so hard watching them get old. It's hard watching Alfie struggle to get about now, him thinking twice whether he really needs to get up and how quickly he's declined. And in the busyness and hustle and bustle of our lives if we are always really doing the very best for him. He's such a special dog. We may have got him from a rescue centre, but he rescued us really.
