Duddingston Kirk

Built in 1124 by Dodington, a Norman knight, on land granted to Kelso Abbey by King David 1st of Scotland, today's blip is the old kirk at Duddingston just on the fringes of Edinburgh's Arthur's Seat. The entrance to the kirkyard is notable for the gatehouse (see the extra for a small detail), built as a lookout point to deter body snatchers in the early 19th century.
