Here I Stand

This is in front of the Marktkirche in Wiesbaden and is meant to celebrate 500 years of Martin Luther's 95 Theses.

But.  As far as I know, the Reformationstag is 31st October.  And the whole Diet Of Worms thing happened 4 years later.

I had fun reading about this stuff - history is pretty much always interesting.  I didn't know that ole Luther was a professor of moral theology at the university of Wittenberg.  And I had to check an atlas to find out where Wittenberg was (in Sachsen-Ahalt/Saxony-Anhalt, ) and that led me to read a bit about Philip Melanchthon.

And then you find yourself reading about transubstantiation and consubstantiation and indulgences and Luther's disappearance on his return from Worms.

I'm never happier than when I'm reading things.  Except IBM manuals.  Every one a horror.

Oh and that quote "Here I stand, I can do no other" - Luther probably never said it.
