Whimsy

Another of our garden inhabitants, this one a cat with a whimsical smile. We picked this one up from our artists at the Oregon Country Fair, the folks we've been buying from for five or six years. This garden kitty has enjoyed, like its fellow papier mache brood, the extended sunshine. When the rains fall, it will live its winter in the potting shed before emerging next summer to play at its merry best above our garden space. What I especially like about this shot is that standing behind the cat are the colorful remnants of the garden, from the yellowed and spent sunflowers, to the flame of the bursting tomatoes (see last night's photo). The garden lives.
