Camping: Sandbanks, Prince Edward County, Ontario
[Apologies for the absence. No, we have not been eaten by bears. Instead three of us have succumbed to the Louisville lurgy...]
Despite a terrible night's sleep due to a fever, Mr hazelh was up early this morning to join my cousin Mr don_T for a quadruple scull on the Credit River. Once Mr hazelh was out of the house, I managed to catch up a little on my sleep, then don_T and I set off in a short run around the block in our Iron Girl T shirts.
When he came back from rowing Mr hazelh declared that he was feeling absolutely awful and retired to his bed for the rest of the morning. Meanwhile I packed our bags for camping and our cousins loaded the car. The loading turned out to be a mammoth job. I thought that the don_Ts had gone out (for petrol or to buy something for the trip?) when they were actually in the garage puzzling over how to fit everything into, and onto, the vehicle.
It took just over three hours to reach our camp site at Sandbanks. We have pitched our tents for two nights in a forest glade. The beach is nearby, as are showers and a toilet block. The most surprising thing to us (as British campers in Canada) is the lack of grass on the ground. There are a lot of Québecois families here, so it almost feels like we've somehow landed in France for a couple of days.
As soon as our tent was up (the grey one), I tucked Mr hazelh into bed in the hope that he will feel better tomorrow. Then the rest of us went grocery shopping and caught a beautiful sunset on the way back to base. After sausages and burgers for supper we all retired under canvas for the night.
Check don_T's journal entry for today for a shot of the morning runners, the super-loaded car, and the sunset.
Exercise today: 3.5k run
