Our Railway Platform
This is our railway platform. You may just about to be able to read the letters on the canopy supports - they read AR for Alcester Railways.
There are 3 Cadbury's chocolate machines, hurricane lamps, a train timetable for this line, and of course the buckets of sand in case there is a fire on one of the engines that passes through. The door on the left goes through to our garage, which was originally two separate waiting rooms - one for men and a separate one for ladies.
Not that engines do pass through nowadays - the line closed completely in 1951, and the tracks have been lifted, and besides, the trains would have to come through our garden!
It's a great place for a BBQ if the weather isn't too good. Someone said once that it was like eating in a Harry Potter film.
The paintwork is all in immaculate condition as C and a friend decorated it all about a year ago (it all had to be scaffolded as it's so high).
After Thursday this will all be someone else's responsibility. It feels as though we have been custodians of part of the old railway station instead of owners. I hope they love it here as much as we have done.
