I Hate War
That's a quote from one of my favorite monuments in D.C.: the FDR garden. It's a walk-through, immersive monument, organized by the four terms FDR served. It includes sculptures, water works, and other forms of art in a sprawling display that is tucked away ever so slightly so that, I think, a lot of tourists actually miss it.
What I like best about it is that it highlights his thoughts on various aspects of government as well as his personal philosophy. Here's a list of all the quotes. As I walked through, I couldn't help compare the insights (and accomplishments) of FDR to the moral vacuity of the current occupant of that office...
