The view from the fire escape stairs, which I ended up needing to use. In fact, I was the reason the fire alarm went off in our building today...

The gas bottle was connected but none of the rings were igniting. Mohamed kept trying and one started. So he checked them all, but the smoke/heat detector is above the stove... and so 27 floors of alarms went off and the recording to exit the building... it took us a minute to realise then he dashed off. It took about 10 minutes to turn it off. Interestingly, very few people came down to the ground floor. Only about a third of the floors are occupied so far and no doubt some were out, but nevertheless it is concerning.

Nice to cook again, and hopefully I'll be washing soon. It's getting milder too.
