Shipwreck

Last Tuesday, as I debated a weekend trip to Dunbar with Red, I was alarmed to see the pressure plummeting on Sunday into Monday, with strong winds, gusting over 50mph. As it turned out the forecast was wrong. But only 24 hours wrong. As today dawned it became apparent that all sorts of carnage was unfolding down at Granton. Four boats are up on the rocks in the west harbour. Here they lie, impossible to get off, already cracked up, all set to suffer further damage at high tide around midnight tonight. We've set up round the clock watches on them, but for the peeps who own them it's quite heart-rending. You can get quite attached to your wee boat. As for the Ouzel, she dragged her sinker a good 70 yards south, as did a few others in the main harbour. Two boats there went up on the shore there and one is smashed up; I've been lucky so far. Hey ho.
