Wound up in Wexford

Willow emerald damselfly

I think I have my identification correct.  I'd never seen a damselfly like this on our pond before.  I struggled to get an "in focus" shot, as the camera was convinced I wanted to focus of the stones behind him.  But eventually I succeeded.

I then came indoors to try to get the identity, using this website.  I started by thinking it was a "common or garden" emerald damselfly.  But the little spur in the markings on the side of the body, and the light colour of the wing spots suggests a willow emerald.  Quite chuffed about that, as these are less common - only found on the east side of the country.

In extras, a robin keeping an eye on us, as we cleared overgrowth around the pond.
