For the past 4 days I have been away with 20 of our walking group on a visit to the Waihi  area. This has been wonderful as the area is a great combination of amazing scenery and interesting history. The amount of gold and kauri which were taken out of the area was mind boggling. To say nothing of the hard work needed to put in railway lines through cliffs to bring out the gold and timber.
