Islands

We visited some of the islands to the north of Venice today making good use of our 3 day pass for the water buses. First we stopped at Murano which has a Main Street which seems to be almost entirely devoted to shops selling glassware, then to Burano for lunch and after that to to Torcello. I had a slight adventure on the way when thechimp managed to get off the boat before me and the person manning the gate on the boat shut it before I could get off. So I was left behind as the boat headed off to another island - we did catch up soon afterwards so all was not lost! There are a couple of extras including one of thechimp fighting off the pigeons for a share of some water from a water fountain. The Inn behind him is where Ernest Hemingway used to stay when he was in these parts - apparently
