Patented escapement

Having returned to the UK I am now in catch up mode. This is a rather technical blip.  The escapement on this clock with a double escape wheel was patented (échappement breveté) and is very unusual and comes from a swinging cherub clock previously blipped here. The escapement allows the pendulum cherub to swing forwards and backwards rather than side to side. The clock dates from the late 19th century.
