'Motherless'

I love this very poignant piece of art and quote from the plaque at the side of this beautiful sculpture, created around 1889, by George Lawson .....

'This sculpture has always been a favourite at Kelvingrove, proof that sadness can be popular. The girl's mother has died in childbirth or during a Victorian epidemic, leaving her father to look after her'

The weather wasn't quite so good today so to escape from the rain L and I went for a visit to the Art Galleries. A spot of lunch, a wander and a listen to the organ recital ..... a splendid way to spend a couple of hours.
