Tewkesbury Abbey
We flew down to Birmingham and hired a car today - in preparation for a family weekend hosted by my little brother who lives in Malvern .
We've been here a couple of times and it really is a lovely part of the world - generally a bit warmer than back home and with some nice walking and pubs.
The hotel we are staying in is just up the road from Tewkesbury which sits on the junction of the Rivers Avon and Severn and was an important trading town in medieval times . The battle of Tewkesbury was fought just outside the Abbey during the war of the Roses and there are some nice medieval buildings in the town . Also some very good second hand book shops .
