A good soup for a bad day

It was a proper early Autumn day, the rain lashed down all day and I was grateful it wasn't me walking a dog in the park. I stayed in, cleaned the flat, studied and made soup. This is the start of "a good soup for a bad day", a chicken, mushroom and pearl barley soup from the Leon cookbook. My absolute favourite soup, although it takes hours to make. The recipe involves drinking a lot of wine, I didn't do that.

Stupidly I watched 2 films, both of which made me cry, clearly not up to facing romance yet. sigh.
