Wojtek

The Soldier Bear, gifted to the town of Duns by the town of Zagan which is the twin town with Duns. He was erected in April 2016.
The brown Syrian bear was rescued as a cub by the Free Polish Army as they went through the Middle East.
The hero bear fought in WW11 with the army and after the war he came to Scotland with the demobbed soldiers.
His final years were spent at Edinburgh Zoo.
