Engine Shed
Tuesday, and a morning appointment in Stirling. That was followed by a wander round the shops, a spot of lunch, and my first visit to the recently-restored Engine Shed.
Originally used to hold railway engines, rolling stock and goods for the military, this building had lain unused and become derelict before being restored and renovated by Historic Environment Scotland. It reopened as a centre dedicated to building conservation and building heritage earlier this year.
At the time of my visit there was a fascinating exhibition about the fire and the associated recovery and restoration work at the Charles Rennie Mackintosh-designed Glasgow School of Art.
