A wander through the heather

This is a local reserve of dune heath which used  to farm land, it was known as "The poverty" due to the poor soil quality. During and after the war it was used by the MOD for troop training purposes. A few years ago it was turned into a nature reserve. There is also a lot of gorse, so work is ongoing to try and bring it under control.
