Macbeth and Sueno’s stone
Returning from our weekend at Findhorn we stopped off to see Sueno’s stone, just outside Forres.
This Picto-Scottish standing stone, the biggest of its kind in Scotland, is huge- over 6.5 metres (about 21 feet).
It dates from around 9th to 10th century.
Local legend says this was the crossroads where Macbeth originally met the three witches. In the legend, they were eventually imprisoned inside the stone—should the stone be broken they would be released.
