York Minster
Today, as you can see, we visited York. When we woke it was drizzly, but the forecast was cloudy, no rain, so we gathered together our bags for a day out in York. We used the park and ride, which was more like a normal one (unlike Edinburgh's!) and got off near Clifford's Tower.
We only really had 4 things we wanted to do today. The main one being the Jorvik Viking Centre. We headed there, arriving at 10.45, to be met by an enormous queue. After hesitating for a brief moment we attached ourselves to the end. Fast forward an hour and 25 minutes, and we were in. It is something Jon and I have done twice before, but not the children. It has had an enormous amount of money spent on it since the flood in 2015, and we weren't disappointed. Everyone enjoyed the visit. They both 'made' a Viking coin, which was a relatively cheap souvenir, then out in the shop spent more money.
The rest of the day was spent walking through the Shambles, where Jon bought me a beautiful new handbag (possibly to get me out of the shop) We walked round the outside of York Minster, we bought lots of fudge at the fudge kitchen, and ended the day with a walk along a fairly long complete stretch of the city walls. The weather stayed fine for us, and we drove home via Knaresborough. There we got a cheap meal in Wetherspoons and were home by 8.
Everyone is now reading. Henry and Jon are both on their third book of the holiday, Mollie is more than half way through her second. I'm only just half way through my first book. What does that say about me? No don't answer that....i don't need to be told how easy it is for me to get sidetracked!
