Rannerdale Bluebells

G & I took the train down to Penrith to join my mum and dad ready for our canal boat holiday.  Mum had raved about the Bluebells at Rannerdale so in the afternoon we headed out to see them. I should really have chosen a shot of the hillsides covered in acres and acres of blue flowers but I really liked this close up shot.  I always thought of bluebells as woodland plants and never expected to see them on a hillside.  Apparently they really needed another week to be at their best and to be out on both sides of the river.

[Edit] Blip has just informed me this was my 2000 entry.  Still a lot of backblipping to do to catch up to 2017.
