In Holland the frothy green fronds were used as hair decorations and Flemish refugees took up carrot growing in Kent and Surrey during the reign of Elizabeth 1.
And the humble (or perhaps not so) carrot has its very own International Day...April 4th


Just about the only veggie that junior shows interest in on his plate ...a carrot on a stick before 'seconds' are on offer!
