Down to Lincoln

I took the day off today to travel down to Lincoln for a summer party at my Mum’s house.  The parties started out as celebrations for various birthdays, and have since evolved into annual events.  The extent that Grandma goes to in order to prepare is something else.  The whole extended family convenes and my mum busts out all the old party games from when we were children.  I’m not sure who enjoys them more.  The kids or their grandma!
 
We had hoped to break the journey up with a stop at Alnwick or Durham once the kids woke up from their naps but unfortunately they were so excited that they never managed to crash!  With all the holiday traffic, a trip that normally takes about 4.5 hours at night ended up taking close to 6 hours today – complete with very grumpy kids
