I encountered John this evening as he slowly made his way using his walking frame onto the Peace Bridge. He is not as sprightly as he once was but still enjoys the fresh air. Born 88 years ago in Calgary to an ENT specialist father, he has seen Calgary grow by over 20 fold.

John thinks the Peace Bridge is fabulous and has no time for the members of city council who think it is an overhyped, overpriced folly. It is a perfect shortcut to Downtown for people living on the North side of the river. "Besides" he explains, "it is the best place in the city to observe fine-looking women."
