home and about

-a few familiar faces from the wetlands boardwalk today (after work). It was cloudy, but at least not raining. It's been pretty quiet there lately- the nesting is long finished, babies all grown, and with so much water out in the Everglades, the birds have much more hunting available elsewhere. (since this protected area seems to be a fairly safe place to rear young, the birds hunt near the nests during that time.) And it's still a little early for migratory birds. But there's always some year- round residents- from top left, clockwise: Green Heron, Black-crowned Night-Heron, Great Egret, and a juvenile Great Blue Heron
