Lyme House Green Man
Back Blipped Sunday 20th August 2017ce
So, today we visited Lyme Park, a National Trust stately home in Cheshire, with our friends P&P. I've long been an aficionado of Green Men, finding them inset into the unlikeliest of places. This one is part of an ornate ceiling in the dining room of Lyme House, the lake outside of which is the one from which Colin Firth emerged dripping wet in Pride and Prejudice.
Of course Janet had to explore the dressing up box... (see extra)
The C16th house is fascinating and filled with Regency artwork and decoration and the estate remained generally in the same hands from the mid 1300's to the middle of the last century. The gardens might have better been appreciated if it hadn't been pouring torrentially at the time, and if they'd told us there wasn't a coffee bar at the folly on top of the hill that would have saved a soggy walk...
Altogether a smashing day.
