Festival
This weekend saw the culmination of the week-long Kirkintilloch Canal Festival 2017. I went along for a look around on Saturday afternoon and, truth to tell, it was a fairly damp squib of an affair - damp being the significant word.
All the stalls, attractions, funfair rides et al were there, but the persistent drizzle, interrupted by heavy showers and only the very occasional glimpse of the sun meant that most people had decided to stay away and hope for better conditions on Sunday. It was a real shame as, clearly, a lot of work had gone into setting up the event, and it was hard not to feel sorry for those involved.
One activity that seemed to be running as normal, albeit with slightly fewer takers than might have been expected were the canal cruises from Southbank Marina to Hillhead Basin and return. Thought I'd make that my blip of the day and, like everyone else, hope for better on Sunday.
