Yet again I struggled to sleep so got up at 6 to make another cake.Rosie and I breakfasted together, then got things organised to take to Jeanie and Georges house. We started getting the food organised. Keith, Naomi and Laura arrived with more cakes and garden chairs. Then we headed to Waitrose to collect the glasses and M and S for the sandwiches etc. We all gathered and took a large taxi to the crematorium.
Lots of people came, including post men just off their delivery, and school friends, carers, vicars, friends and neighbours. Of course I cried buckets, but the service was lovely, Rosie read the eulogy perfectly, (she wrote it and the obituary and the O.O.S.) and Laura read the David   Harkins poem at the end. Then back to the house for copious amounts of tea and cake. The sun shone so there were people inside and out. Dad was loved by many people. By about 4.30 the guests had gone, so chairs were returned to neighbours, glasses to Waitrose and we went home. Full of cake. Rosie and Graham headed back to Bristol as she is photographing a wedding at the weekend.
I think Dad would have approved of the day, as would Mum before the dementia kicked in.
