Dunbar Street Art Trail

Took a trip to Dunbar to catch the last day of their Street Art Trail. Got the bus up to Waverley - spotted a man getting on at Piershill with a retro Dundee FC top, Courier tucked under his arm. Was that his Saturday morning ritual, buying the Courier before heading up to catch the train to see his team play? Long journey ahead of him if he was on his way to see The Dees as they were away at Aberdeen. I had a much shorter trip on the train along to Dunbar. Two deer making their way through a cornfield beside the tracks. Once at Dunbar I made my way along the High Street, looking at the art in the shop windows, going into some of the shops that had more art on their walls. My friend Ali had an installation of her photos on fencing at the far and of the High Street, as well as running her Photo Booth from her converted horse box. There was also stone balancing, graffiti art and a music stage and some activities for kids. The high winds had unfortunately ruled out the zorbing. I had lunch in the 1650 Cafe (date of the Battle of Dunbar - Cromwell's spectacular victory) where I had a very interesting chat about all things art with a couple from East Linton. A bit more of a wander round and time for a cup of tea and a chat with Ali before her friend arrived with their car to tow away the horse box and I headed off to the station to get my train back to Edinburgh. An excellent day out and put me in the mood for next week's Big Beach Busk in Porty and our own Porty Art Walk in a couple of weeks.
