The Church Fete.....

...or Wayside Market as it is called.

A bit of a howling gale, but the marquees held up.    Rosie Thorburn here officially opening the event - and hanging on to her hat.

The Market was in the grounds of Neidpath Castle, and with Lady Elizabeth's permission the castle was open to explore.  There has been a castle there since the 13th century.    Mary Queen of Scots visited in 1563, and her son, James VI, 20 years later.

Extra 1 - A bird's eye view of part of the fete from the Tower.
Extra 2 - One of the prisoners in the Pit Prison didn't make it.
