Chicken of the woods.

We are passionate wild mushroom hunters in this house, forever dragging the girls and Bonnie off to potential new locations searching for our fungal gold.

Much to our delight we discovered these beauties sprouting out of an Oak tree close to my parents house. So took them home to try. Taste a lot like chicken in both flavour and texture - doesn't everything?!

For those of you who don't know your onions when it come to wild mushrooms - BE CAREFUL! and if in doubt admire but don't eat. For you budding collectors - get a decent guide book - John Wright from The River Cottage is a trusty, informative and amusing fella to read.

But not been a great year for shrooms our way so far this tear....are there more foragers I wonder?
