Going Underground

Tellure Silver mine. Great tour of the mines for which you need your poncho and your helmet with head torch. Most of the tour is in more modern tunnels but there are parts where you go through some of the original 16th Century workings which are only just wide enough for one person to squeeze through at at time. The miners then used hammer and chisel and chipped away 2 to 10 cm per day. Interestingly the owners called on German experts to help do the mining which StorksRock tells me is what also happened at the same time in the lake district for the gold and copper mining there.

I shot this on the X-T2 at ISO 12800 - (I processed it so much its hard to tell what the noise level is like) - I like having the ISO, Shutter speed and aperture all available on dials - it kind of takes some getting used to but I think it works well - quite old school like an old film SLR.

Extra is a panorama created in camera of SR relaxing in Ribeauville in the afternoon
