american goldfinch
There were several of these flitting from shrub to shrub and flower to flower long the roadside this morning. This is a male and I think is feeding on the seeds of lemon mint (or beebalm), Monarda citriodora.
All the eclipse glasses have disappeared from the stores so we shall be using the pinhole which is really much safer. The schools have glasses for the children and I do not know how they are going to organize all this. Wearing the glasses, you cannot see anything but the sun and sky. The imagination runs rife!
