Card Up Close

I haven't done some idle close ups for a bit. Thought I might try one today. For me the most interesting part is the wonderful plastic case that the SD card sits in. Once, when the world was young, SD cards used to come in these nice things which seemed to offer a measure of shock and moisture protection for one's precious pictures.

These days, cards come on pieces of cardboard, tightly held in place by a shiny plastic film. One risks one's fingers and even the products themselves by attempting to cut them out for actual use.

As card capacities moved from  256mb to 64gb and older cards got retired, I did my best to retain these original SD cases. The spare SDs in my camera bags all sit in these cases. They have stood up well to hard use. Why can't you get them anymore?
