Siccar Point
I took a drive along the coast to have a look at Siccar Point, made famous in the history of geology for an unconformity found by James Hutton in the c18th. The photo shows the eroded red sandstone and vertical ribs of older (by 55 million years) grey greywacke. It is quite remote and I didn't spot another soul as I walked to the Point.
This is a link to a leaflet explaining the importance of this discovery. In the extra photo I have added a long exposure of the view from Siccar Point south-east down the Berwickshire coast.
