Catty Foreshadowing

My Dear Fellow,

I took today off to help with the emigration plan. Er Indoors had a list of chores for me to help her with. The main one being to take down all the curtains so we can have them dry-cleaned.

It sounds easy, doesn't it? Don't worry, I managed to make a meal of it anyway, on account of I'm as graceful as a pig on stilts once you put me up a ladder.

However, all the curtains are now down. No injuries. And I didn't fall on anyone.

The other big deal of the day was the lads. They had one last hurdle to getting their catty passports for NZ. A vet had to:

- Check them for external parasites
- Administer worm tablets
- Apply tick & flea gunk
- Check their microchip tags

Me & Er Indoors acted casual. I swear I did NOTHING unusual this morning. I sat on the couch and drank my tea. I didn't utter the word "vet". I didn't even SPELL it.

Punky hid under the couch, at the very back.

Punky is psychic.

I had to move furniture to scare him out of there while Er Indoors blocked all available exits. So we were sweaty and stressed before we even got to the vet. It didn't help that Punky - normally a quiet and reserved little chap - had found his voice:

"Eep eep eep eep eep eep eep eep eep eep eep eep eep eep eep eep eep eep eep eep eep eep eep eep eep eep eep eep eep eep eep eep eep..."

He sounded like a small smoke alarm that had gone off in the cat basket.

However, 30 minutes later, both lads were given the all clear and that is now everything done and sorted catwise. They get picked up 2 weeks on Monday, to fly to Wellington via LAX. Soon, Punky will be EEP-ing his way halfway around the world.

The unfortunate side-effect of this, is that when Jasper gets stressed he turns aggressive and "sh1tey" towards his brother. So in between household chores today, we've also been having to break up actual, real cat-fights not pretendy ones like normal. Jasper will return to normal in a day or so (he always does) and in fact seems much calmer already but it hasn't really felt like a proper relaxing day off.

So let us end today by looking at this picture of the lads this morning, before all kittycat hell broke loose. They decided to sit next to each other in a box - unaware that this is exactly what they will be doing 18 days from now. Catty foreshadowing.
