Blackout
I locked myself away today even though it was a wonderfully sunny day and a public holiday in our parish! Well our parish and a further 1703 of the 2056 parishes in Bavaria, the ones with a majority of catholic inhabitants. This means that if the population changes, a parish can suddenly be in or out of the holiday. Gets very confusing as it could well be that you live in a catholic parish but you employer in a protestant one! The state of Saarland also has the holiday as does the whole of Austria. Switzerland though is depending on the canton.
It's Maria Himmelfahrt, the Assumption of Mary. The Virgin Mary is actually held in high regard by almost all religions, including Islam.
Today a racist bigot was on our property and I refuse to have any contact with them. However gave me the chance to catch up on some paperwork.
Makes me sad that certain persons continue to silently support this being - the hope of money seemingly the motive. My thoughts with the people of Charlotesville and the USA who stand up to this evil.
And just to be quite clear - I am just as afraid as most of the impact on our safe and comfortable lifestyles that some of the migration issues cause. However I understand the motives of 99.9% of these people and would do the same thing myself in their positions. Apart from that we white Europeans have taken advantage of all the countries from which people are escaping, having plundered and forced our thoughts and beliefs on them for centuries. In fact we celebrate these forced conquests of the "glorious past". I myself was born and raised in such a colonial environment and benefited from it enormously.
We have as humans of this tiny planet the duty to help those in need, to improve the standards for all and do everything we can to stop grief, hunger, wars ....... Only if we all work together and show mutual respect can we overcome the problems.
