Piece Hall - Halifax

Today I ended up in Halifax and decided to take my first look at the re-vamped Piece Hall.  Three years and £19m - I am not impressed.
Gone are the iconic cobbles, gone is the grass.  All we have now is a featureless open space with steps and running water features.  It was fairly busy today - mainly because it's free and it's the school holidays.  The children were enjoying running in and out of the water courses.
Some of the shops were occupied - but nowhere near the '50%' the management are saying.
I hope it all works out, but I remain unimpressed :-(
