Virtual insanity.
This evening I've had my first experience with the Oculus Rift.
It has sort of blown my mind.
I've worked in the gaming industry for about fifteen years and I've seen the evolution first hand and we have had Virtual reality creep in over the past few years. It is only now that it is worth checking out and I suggest you go and have a demonstration just for fun even if you aren't a gamer. It's a medium that has infinite possibilities, for example I tried a creative art package where you can sculpt things in a 3D environment, it's there but it's not there. This could be a brilliant training tool as well as being fun.
I was very sceptical about donning the headset and what I would experience, yes it's another piece of tech you can live without but it is very different to anything thats come before.
Pictured is my mate who owns the setup and has been in the gaming world virtually and for real for over 25 years.
I also watched Guardians of the Galaxy 2 tonight. Can a film have too much action? Yes it can! Saying that it was extremely entertaining with some very funny bits and who doesn't like baby groot?
A strange evening it's been.
P.S. I had some interesting answers on yesterdays "what is it?" blip with a few getting it right. My next blip will reveal more.
