Two Little Maids . . .
Both small. Both female.
Small whites - Pieris rapae
There is a particular tree in our garden that strongly attracts small whites. I don't know if it is the colour, or whether it exudes a scent but every day there are several flying round it, flirting, mating, roosting etc. There is no nectar or sugary secretion for them to feed on. The leaves are not a food-plant for their caterpillars.
The tree is a 20 ft specimen of Pittosporum tenuifolium 'Silver Queen'
