The 2012 'World's Biggest Coffee Morning' is on Friday 28th. I help out, waitressing, dishwashing, general dogsbody, anything that has to be done, at the coffee morning hosted by a friend in her home. Last year we raised over £1,000 and we hope to raise even more this year.

For the last eight years she has produced a 'Tried & Tested' Recipe Book by friends with all the proceeds going to the charity. We are all busy selling it to friends and family at present.

I doubt if anyone has not been touched by this dreadful disease, and we find that people are very generous in their giving. Apart from that, it is great fun..... my friend and her family work very hard on this, turning their home into a lovely restaurant, tables and chairs everywhere, some borrowed from the church. Over the years she has collected and been donated beautiful china and tableware, and she stores it all up in her attic, so you can imagine it is a big job to set up, as everything has to be washed before and after the event. Last year I gave a cakestand that belonged to my old aunt, it is beautiful china, but I will never use it and it has found a good home.

Apart from offering tea, coffee, home baking, there is a raffle, an auction, and usually some entertainment, in the form of a pianist, or a conjurer, or a violinist, she has great connections. It is a real fun event and we all enjoy ourselves immensely..... and come away with the feel good factor.
